Attempted Assassination of Leader of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Ulyanovsk by His Countrymen
An assassination attempt occurred on the leader of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Ulyanovsk, Islam Husseinov. His countrymen, Nahid Zahidov and R. Baghirov, are accused of the crime. They will be put on the international wanted list, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia.
According to investigators, a personal conflict occurred between Zahidov and Hussseinov shortly before the attack.
The assassination attempt occurred in the afternoon of September 11 in the office of the Ulyanovsk branch of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress, which is headed by Husseinov. Two offenders entered Husseinov's study, but when they pulled out their pistols, the victim, as well as his deputy, son and guard resisted.
As a result, the community leader was slightly wounded, the security guard was killed and the killers fled. Zahidov lost his passport then. -02D-
