Baku / October 17, 2018/Turan: Lawyer Osman Kazimov met with the activist of the Musavat party Azad Hasanov, who is accused of drug trafficking on a large scale, in Baku Detention Center No. 1. Kazymov himself told Turan about this.
Since 2014 Hasanov was in political emigration in Lithuania. On October 10, he returned to Baku to visit his seriously ill father. However, on the same day was detained.
On October 12, the Khatai District Court of Baku chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. He is charged under Art. 234.4.3 (drug trafficking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code.
The party Musavat reported the political motives of the persecution of Hasanov.
According to the lawyer, Hasanov"s state of health is normal, and he has not been subjected to any torture. Physical force was used only during the detention, when he was put in a car.
At the same time, in the General Directorate of Baku Police, he was threatened when he refused to testify.
Hasanov told the lawyer that the drugs were put in his pocket.
"He doesn't even smoke cigarettes. Hasanov is far from drugs. In court, he said that drugs were planted on him. Hasanov refused a lawyer appointed by the state. But the court ignored his words," said the lawyer.
According to the lawyer, the police let Hasanov understand that he was arrested because of his publications on Facebook.
However, Hasanov said he did not insult anyone on Facebook and led his struggle in general within the framework of ethical standards.
The lawyer filed an appeal against the arrest of Hasanov.-03B06-
