Baku/21.08.17/Turan: An Azerbaijani citizen was detained at the Astana airport, who was trying to smuggle in jewelry for a total of $2 million, Kazakhstan's media reported citing the country's Border Guard Service. A citizen of Azerbaijan, born in 1980, whose name is not mentioned, arrived in Astana by flight from Istanbul.
He had two bags weighing 48 kilo. In the course of checking baggage, 311 items of 11,786 jewelry items, presumably made of gold and silver (32 kilo and 16 kilo), were identified. A criminal case has been opened, an investigation is under way. -71D-

As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.
