Bakhtiyar Hajiyev often loses consciousness, he has shortness of breath - lawyer
Baku/26.01.23/Turan: Public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev has been on a hunger strike for the 18th day in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1.He demands his release. On January 26, lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova met withHajiyev in the pre-trial detention center. She said that Hajiyev was determined to continue the hunger strike until his demand is satisfied. According to Sadigova, Hajiyev's healthn remains serious. Over the past day, Hajiyev has lost another 1.2 kg. In total, after the arrest, the activist lost 12.5 kg. and now weighs 72 kg.
“He often loses consciousness, he has shortness of breath. He can no longer stand on his feet. Bakhtiyar Hajiyev has become so weak that he cannot hold a TV remote control or a glass in his hands. His blood pressure is consistently low - 90/60, pulse is 76, body temperature - 35.9 degrees Celsius. Despite the strong nature of the will, the hunger strike has affected his body,” the lawyer said.
According to her, Hajiyev has been losing consciousness for several nights, he suffers from severe shortness of breath. In such situations, a doctor or paramedic is called to him, and only measures his pressure. There is no permanent medical supervision for Hajiyev, the lawyer continued.
Due to frequent loss of consciousness, shortness of breath, muscle numbness, Gadzhiev may have problems with his heart and brain. However, despite Hajiyev's requests for magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, there has been no response so far.
In connection with gastric hemorrhages, Hajiyev's blood samples were taken for analysis on January 18, but there are still no results. On January 27, Hajiyev's appeal against the extension of his arrest will be considered.
“Bakhtiyar Hajiyev himself will also be brought to court. We hope that this time the court will restore justice,” Sadigova said. Meanwhile, Hajiyev's new appeal to society has been circulated on social networks.
He noted that in recent days he felt the support of representatives of various sectors of society, organizations and groups, political parties in the media.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days. On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
