Caucasus Muslims Office supports a military operation in Nardaran

The events in Nardaran is  the main theme of the meeting in the  Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO.) According to Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazade, "these events have disappointed us." In his opinion, "it is not related to religion," it is "anti-state  action, terror." Thale Bagirzade, and those who were with him  were opposed to the state, said the sheikh. At the same time, Pashazade said that the elders and residents of Nardaran were against this , and "alien" people have committed illegal actions.

"The roots of these events are abroad", - said Sheikh, adding that he does not mean Iran and Turkey, "but  more distant countries", without specifying. Sheikh also opposed the wording  "religious extremism" as a religion is incompatible with extremism.

State Adviser  for Religious Affairs, Kamal Abdullah, called the events in Nardaran "anxiety in the young state on the path to democracy."

Different events used to take place in Nardaran before, and the authorities were going to make certain concessions. But this time  there was a serious threat to the  foundations of the state, he said.

The head of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations,  Mubariz Gurbanli, said that Islam is not the religion that intervenes in politics. "Just some people want to turn into an instrument of policy."

He called for strengthening the foundations of traditional Islam based on the Koran and the Hadises  of the Prophet.

The head of the parliamentary committee on religious structures and public associations, Siyavush Novruzov, considers that the necessity of  preventive and awareness-raising activities, so as not to bring the case to law enforcement methods.

Following the meeting, which was attended by akhunds of the mosques  controlled by  the  CMO, it adopted an appeal to the President of Azerbaijan in which events in Nardaran  are regarded as an attempt of coup d'etat, expressing support for public policy. –06С-
