Court of Appeal Did Not Restore Doctor-Politician at Work
Baku / 17.03.18 / Turan: Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) Hasrat Rustamov, dismissed from the position of the doctor of the Baku Emergency Medical Aid Station, was unable to restore his rights with the Court of Appeal. Rustamov intends to appeal his dismissal to the Supreme Court.
On September 23, 2017 Rustamov attended the opposition rally in Baku. After that, on October 3, he was interrogated in the Sabail district police department, and several days later he was fired from his job.
Last November, the Nasimi district court in Baku did not satisfy his claim for reinstatement at work, and he filed an appeal. On March 16, the Baku Appeals Court chaired by Elnur Hasanov upheld the decision of the first instance court.
Hasanov believes he was deprived of work for political reasons. "The authorities believe that persons working in the public sector should be members of the ruling party and remain indifferent to the ongoing lawlessness and not participate in protests," Rustamov told Turan.
He intends to apply to the Supreme Court, and in case of non-restoration of his rights - to file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights. -06D--
