Defendants in the "Nardaran case" go on a hunger strike

All 18 defendants in the "case of Nardaran" on Monday began a hunger strike in protest against non-admission of the courtroom,  said the lawyer Yalcin Imanov. According to him, the accused are also protesting against the forced participation of their lawyers at the trial, despite the fact that the accused refused to defenders. Defendants are protesting against their detention during the last meeting in the cold basement of the Baku Serious Court Crimes. Because of the dampness and cold, some of the defendants became ill.

The meeting today was held without the participation of the accused.  The lawyer Imanov petitioned for the return of the defendants to the hall. However, the judge rejected the request. According to Imanov, the court rejected 50 petitions of lawyers associated with the call of additional witnesses, except for the inadmissible evidence, and so forth.

The lawyer of one of the defendants Zibeyda Sadigov asked the court to allow her client to attend the funeral of his mother. However, the court dismissed the petition, and did not allow his brother to meet with the defendant in the court basement. Relatives of the accused day were not admitted to the trial.

The persons involved in "Nardaran case" are the leader of the movement "Muslim unity" Taleh Bagirzade, his deputy, Abbas Huseynov and other believers, as well as deputy chairman of APFP Fuad Gahramanli. They were arrested in connection with the special operation in Nardaran November 26, 2015.
