Dismantling Architectural Monument on Soviet Street Started

Today began the dismantling of the facing of the building at 145 Mirza Fatali Street, which is located in the historical part of Baku called Soviet.

Until recently, this old two-storey building was entered in the register of monuments. However, due to the massive demolition in this area, it and a number of other historical sites have been excluded from the list of protected sites.

Local residents and members of the public are explained by the officials that facing fragments representing artistic value will be carefully dismantled and then displayed in other places.

However, even in this case, such work should be carried out by experts.

But the facing is dismantled by some workers from unknown organizations.

The owner of the building, Faik Aliyev stated that neither the Ministry of Culture nor the Executive Power of the Yasamal district has submitted any documents to him or the residents. According to Aliyev, the demolition of the building is carried out on the instructions of the Executive Power of the Yasamal district.

He said the residents do not agree with the proposed monetary compensation. "We do not want any compensation. We want to save this building," said Aliyev.

The residents have not been submitted the court's decision on the dismantling of the building either.

Both sides went to court and the case is pending.

The building was built in 1909.    -06D--
