European Court: denial of "Armenian genocide" not a crime

The European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg admitted violation by Switzerland of the rights of the Turkish Workers' Party leader Dogu Perinchek, accused of racial discrimination in public denial of the "Armenian genocide" .

"Dogu Perincek , Doctor of Law and chairman of the Turkish Workers' Party, participated in various conferences in Switzerland in 2005, during which he called Armenian genocide in 1915 fiction.

The association Switzerland-Armenia sued in Switzerland with a complaint in July 2005, demanding a criminal case against Perinchek. The court in Lausanne in March 2007 acknowledged Perinchek guilty of racial discrimination, ordering him to pay fines. Perinchek made ??a claim in which he appealed, demanding its repeal and conducting further investigations on this issue. The Appeal and Federal Courts of Switzerland confirmed the legality of the decision .

Perinchek filed a suit in the European Court for violation of his rights, citing a number of articles of the European Convention on Human Rights .
