The head of the State Examination Center Maleyka Abbaszadeh greatly surprised people by stating that from now on in Azerbaijan the costs of exams will be paid by the applicants, rather than the state.
According to her, it comes to entrance examinations at all levels, including the civil service examinations. The only exception is the final exams for secondary education, which will be free.
Now to participate in entrance examinations an applicant pays a fee of two AZN. According to Abbaszadeh, the innovation does not affect the passing grades in this year - they will only have to pay the state fee at the current rate.
At the same time, she did not say how much applicants will have to pay for participation in entrance examinations and how this fee will vary, depending on the university or group of specialties.
This idea of the authorities in the field of education is criticized by experts who have so far refrained from detailed comments. However, they regard the innovation as discrimination against applicants and a measure reducing the interest to education. -02D-
