Faig Amirov’s Health Continues to Deteriorate
The health of the arrested assistant head of the PFPA and financial director of the newspaper Azadlig Faig Amirov has considerably worsened, as his wife Lala Amirova told Turan.
“On Tuesday, he was allowed a call home and he reported that he had severe pain in the gall bladder, the left leg and the stomach,” his wife said.
Two weeks ago, he was taken tests, but no significant treatment is carried out.
“On Wednesday, I should be allowed a meeting with him, as his condition inspires serious concerns,” she added.
The prisoner’s lawyer Aghil Lahijov noted that the court refused to change the measure of restraint for Amirov and did not let him go home.
“His condition is getting worse, and the prosecutor's office knows this,” said the lawyer, adding that no investigation of the case is carried out.
In turn, the Prison Service does not comment on this issue.
Recall that Amirov was arrested on August 20 on charges of inciting religious hatred. He was also declared a representative of the theologian Fethullah Gulen in Azerbaijan, but later he was questioned only about the financing sources of the Azadlig newspaper.
Colleagues and the public have no doubt that the real reason for his arrest was the desire of the authorities to finally strangle the newspaper Azadlig and put pressure on the PFPA leadership. -16D-
