Hearings on ethical violations in virtual space
Hearing on "Prevention of ethical violations in the virtual space" was held on Tuesday at IRFS Public Association by Public Union "Journalists in an extreme situation." The hearing participants reminded that the Internet and social networks have become not only a means of communication, but also a source of information. Social networks have both positive and negative qualities. The latter include the facts of rudeness and insults against each other. These offenses relate to both the socio-political field, and life, as well as religion. The reason for all this is simple human intolerance. Increasing the number of offenses in social networks is the result of personal pettiness and ignorance.
Often conflicts in virtual space have continuation in real life, and even reach the killing or wounding. The number of cases is increasing lately. In addition, social networks are used for the "choosing" victims of people trafficking. Panelists noted that to be guaranteed from all this negativity is not possible.
To protect children from such problems parents should monitor the use of the Internet, using special codes on some sites. Some hearing participants believe that in the absence of alternative sources of information, users refer to social networks as a space in which they may express their discontent. Social networks are popular in countries with dictatorial and totalitarian regimes.
In democratic countries all information is openly presented on TV, for this reason social networks are not popular. With the increasing democratic values, the level of social networks will fall.
It was noted that all views expressed during the hearing will be combined into a package and forwarded to the appropriate state structures. -05C04-
