H.Ismayilova: when you hold the European games it does not mean that you become a European
A journalist Khadija Ismayilova who is serving her term in the prison in Kurdakhani published on the site "Radio Azadlig" her new letter on the upcoming European games. The authorities explained that the purpose of the games is to "present Azerbaijan as part of Europe. "Those who criticizes this "money trap" are called "not patriots." "I want to offer advice that we really can be proud of calling ourselves "Europeans", writes Ismailova. We need the following:
- Let our head of state, and other officials declare like the European leaders their income. Let they do not steal from the people, and their income be transparent;
- The budgets of international activities should be transparent, and people should know how many billions are spent;
- Let the monopolies do not strangle the economy, let national brands are created and develop under the economic competition;
- Let there will not be political prisoners, like in the European countries. Let us have free media, and we will be an example in Europe.
- Let us provide political freedom, free elections, let there be opposition members in parliament, not thrown into jail those who exalt their voice of protest, do not kill them, do not shot them in the mouth, do not force them leave the country;
It does not require spending billions, and costs will reduce.
"There will be no need to tell lies, and it will not be possible to allocate billions from the state budget on expensive tickets and then steal their part," said Ismailova. But it seems the government does not want to hold Olympic reforms, concluded the journalist in a letter written in March.
Khadija Ismayilova was arrested on December 5, 2014 on charges of incitement to suicide. In February 2015 she also was accused of illegal business, tax evasion and embezzlement. -06D-

November 8 is celebrated as Victory Day in Azerbaijan. In 2020, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity through a 44-day war and a one-day military operation in 2023. Although a ceasefire declaration was signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has yet to be signed, even four years later.
