Illicit drug traffic totals for 12.9% of all crimes
Baku/07.08.17/Turan: In the first half of this year of 13182 crimes committed in Azerbaijan, 1694, or 12.9% related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, according to the State Statistics Committee reported citing Interior Ministry data. According to the same source, 63.9% of these facts, related to the illegal purchase of drugs, exceeding the amount of personal use, 28.2% - with the possession of drugs for sale, 6.1% - the illicit cultivation of narcotic plants, 1.8% - with the turnover of potent or poisonous agents.
These crimes were committed by 1,302 people, 89.6% of whom were neither working nor studying, and 39.4% were previously held criminally responsible.
Among the perpetrators of the crimes above 0.2% - a minor, 8.6% - persons of 18-24 years, 13.9% - 25-29 years old, 77.3% - above 30 and. From 639.2 kg of drugs confiscated during the reported period - 55.2 kg is heroin, 426.9 kg - marijuana, 119.5 kg - opium, hashish 2.5 kg, 35.1 kg - other drugs. -71D-
