Introduction of visa regime by Iran creates problems
Temporary restoration by Iran of visa regime for citizens of Azerbaijan has created problems. According to regional correspondent of Turan, on Monday morning near the Iranian Consulate in Nakhchivan gathered a large number of citizens who need to return to Baku through Iran (this is the way they arrived in Nakhchivan till August 5.)
"Here, in 40 degree hot weather, we spend hours standing in line to get
a visa to travel by bus to Baku," said Tahmaz Akhmedov, a resident of Sadarak, in an interview with Turan reporter. Among those waiting for a visa, are parents of soldiers who serve in Nakhchivan.
Five or six buses travel everyday between Baku and Nakhchivan through Iran. The fare for one way 14 manat, by 3.5 times cheaper than the price for air tickets (50 manat.)
Last week, Iran has temporarily restored the visa regime for citizens of Azerbaijan (from 5 to August 31) due to forthcoming summit of the Heads of State of the Non-Alignment Movement to be held in Teheran. -22/16B-
