Ismail Rasulov Released from Custody Prematurely
An activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), invalid of the Karabakh war, Ismail Rasulov, has been prematurely released from administrative detention for 30 days. This decision was taken on August 30 by the Baku Court of Appeal, which upheld the complaint against the arrest of the activist. The lawyer for Rasulov, Asabali Mustafayev, told Turan.
According to him, the release was made possible thanks to public outrage at the arrest of the disabled of the Karabakh war.
'We submitted the complaint on 29 August. Honestly we did not expect such a prompt consideration of the complaint. Today, suddenly they called me and invited to the Court of Appeal. I believe that such a quick response and satisfaction of the complaint was the result of the publications in the media, harsh reaction in social networks on the Internet for the arrest of the disabled of the Karabakh war by slanderous accusations. Because of the social response, Rasulov was quickly released,' said Mustafayev.
According to him, Rasulov was arrested on fabricated charges.
'Allegedly, 59-year-old Ismail Rasulov made 'anti-people and anti-state calls' and expressed 'obscene abuse', and when the police officer called him to order, the activist allegedly disobeyed and resisted. Rasulov himself said that the charge was fabricated, he did not abuse anyone and did not disobey. He said he was called to the police from his home, and when he was there, he was arrested,' said Mustafayev.
According to Mustafayev, Rasulov's arrest was unlawful because the Code of Administrative Offences prohibits arrests of people with disabilities of the first and second groups. Rasulov was the invalid of the second group.
Rasulov was arrested on August 25 on charges of no subordination to police. According to the defense, he himself came to police on a call and there he was detained and accused of not subordinating police unreasonably. -06D--

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
