Journalist sentenced to 10 days in jail
Baku/27.05.19/Turan: By the decision of the Agdam district court, an employee of the Yeni Çağ website, Sahavat Mamed (Mammadov), was administratively arrested for 10 days.
According to his colleague, journalist Jamil Mammadov, the court decision was made in connection with the non-payment of alimony, but this is just a pretext.
"I believe that the court"s decision was made in connection with the article of the journalist regarding the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense, General Najmeddin Sadigov. During the trial, I was able to talk to Sahavat, he also thinks so, "said Mammadov.
Mamedli noted that, although Sahavat Mammadov agreed to pay the debt, they said in court that they did not need the money.
"The debt of Sahavat was 3,000 manat, we were ready to pay it. However, the court did not agree with this, saying "no money is needed" and issued a decision on arrest. That is why we believe that the arrest is registered, "J. Mammadli said.
The journalist added that Sahavat Mammadov constantly covers problems in the army. He wrote in his blog that in the occurrence of these problems there is the role of Sadigov. "Once his blog was disabled, and now he"s arrested himself," Mammadov said.
Turan failed to learn the opinion of the Ministry of Defense in connection with the arrest. -0-
