Law enforcement officers will teach media what to write about the operations against religious radicals
On Friday, at the plenary session of parliament the deputies approved the package of amendments to legislation to combat religious extremism. Thus, changes in the law "On freedom of religion" imply the elimination of religious structures, involved in the extremist activity.
Presenting the bill, the head of the parliamentary committee on religious structures and public associations Siyavush Novruzov said that at different times, different heads of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations "pursuing their own interests", registered 719 religious communities.
"The talk is about closing institutions involved in extremist activities,"- he said. In addition, were adopted amendments that law enforcement agencies conducting a special operation against the religious extremists, has the right to supervise the activity of journalists in the area of operation, determine the form and amount of information about the operation, close roads and stop the supply of electricity, water and gas in the region operation.
Discussing the bills, MP Elmira Akhundova offered to toughen punishment of those who finance extremist religious groups. In her opinion, it is incorrect to provide for a participant and a person financing such groups the punishment - imprisonment from 3 to 5 years. "Man, funding extremists, is more dangerous," said Akhundov.
The MP Fazil Mustafa, in turn, offered to pay particular attention to the activities of the media, which carry out an order from abroad on the part of religious propaganda.
MP Ganira Pashayeva supported the prohibition of religious activities and rituals of those who received religious education outside Azerbaijan. She stated that foreign religious schools focus on hostility between religious trends.
MP Zahid Oruj said that in some countries, in particular, in the city of Qom in Iran religious education is free, which makes it attractive for our citizens. "Therefore, the study at the Baku Islamic University should be free," he said. -71D-
