Media Review December 12, 2019

The volume of cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the social problems of the Syudchyulyuk village, and the causes of carbon monoxide deaths are the topics of today's media.

The newspaper Azerbaijan reports a 31% increase in freight traffic between Russia and Azerbaijan. From January to October this year, 1.4 million tons of cargo were transported through the border crossing point Yalama-Samur. Specialists of both countries are collaborating on the use of the great potential of the North-South, East-West transport corridor through the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

The website Oxu.az writes about a village in the Surakhany district of the capital called Syudchyulyuk State Farm. The village suffers from impassability and lack of drinking water. There is no running water in the village; water is bought for money. Despite repeated appeals of citizens to the executive branch of the region, there is no result. They answer that the problems will be resolved when the money is allocated.

The Yeni Sabah.az website writes about carbon monoxide deaths, discussing this topic with expert Nusrat Gasimov. This year, 152 people poisoned with carbon monoxide have been received in hospitals in Baku. In most cases, poisoning occurs due to improper use of gas appliances or their poor quality.

This issue should be discussed for educational purposes. The expert also rejected the suggestion that the gas is poisonous. In fact, people do not follow elementary standards.           –0--
