Media Review September 7, 2018
Ways of close cooperation of the Turkic-speaking countries, struggle against corruption, and prospects of energy production are the topics of today's media.
The Azerbaijan newspaper writes about the VI summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking states, held in early September. The author cites quotes from the speech of President Ilham Aliyev, who spoke about the need to unite the Turkic-speaking peoples in view of the political and economic processes taking place in the world.
The author notes that at the next Turkic summit to be held in Azerbaijan, it is quite possible to sign new agreements between the parties.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya writes that the society is waiting for high-profile anti-corruption revelations. Corruption has taken root in all state structures of the country. The sphere of social protection of the population is evidence of this. But thanks to the ASAN Service, it was possible to reduce the level of domestic corruption. Bribery and corruption are different concepts.
The General Directorate for Combating Corruption should be more resolute in countering corruption at the top. It is there that it is born and spread throughout the country. Why do anti-corruption services take action against high-ranking corrupt officials only when they are removed from their posts?
The Musavat website writes about the situation in Azenergy, arguing that the situation will not improve until the structure is privatized.
Providing the country with electricity is a security issue; if the economy develops, then energy production should grow every year.
As for the possible merger of Azerenerji and Azerishig, experts consider this ineffective. -0------
