Mehriban Vezir Detained at Airport
A well-known representative of Azerbaijani civil society, Mehriban Vezir, was detained on March 7 and subjected to a thorough check.
As Vezir herself told Turan IA, she was detained at the border control on departure to Turkey. Without any explanation, she was subjected to a check of her personal belongings.
According to Vezir, this is not the first time that she was detained and checked at the airport.
"Despite my demands to provide explanations for the reasons for the verification, no one ever presented me with anything official," Vezir said.
At the same time, she was told that the inspections were related to her activities in the civil sector.
Despite the check, Vezir managed to get on the plane and arrived safely in Turkey.
Mehriban Vezir is the head of the Center for Political Culture of Azerbaijani Women. In addition, she is a member of the NGO Coalition for Improving Transparency in Extractive Industries. Vezir is also known for her journalistic activities. -05D06--
