Ministry of Labor and UNDP Prepare National Suicide Action Plan
Baku / 26.11.19 / Turan: The Ministry of Labor and the United Nations Development Program will prepare for the first time for Azerbaijan a National Suicide Action Plan. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Labor, distributed on November 26.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of suicides in the world over the past 45 years has increased by 60%, Deputy Minister Anar Kerimov said at today's roundtable.
To reduce such cases, educational work and the provision of psychological support to potential suicides is important.
UNDP Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracasetti said that suicide is a global phenomenon and Azerbaijan is no exception.
The prevention of suicide requires close cooperation and coordination of efforts in the field of health, education, agriculture, business, justice, legislation, defense, politics, media, etc., the UN representative believes. –05B06-
