There is a threat of the arrest of the journalist Elchin Hasanov in connection with an appeal of the public prosecutor to the Supreme Court. The reason for criminal proceedings was an incident between Hasanov and head of the agency "Asia" Jafar Jafarov in February 2015. On June 1, the court sentenced him to one year of corrective labor.
The prosecutor's office appealed the verdict, demanding to reclassify charge on heavier - 221.3 (hooliganism with the use of bladed weapons) of the Criminal Code, and to toughen punishment to 3.5 years in prison.

the Court of First Instance. Four months later the prosecutor's office filed a cassation appeal on the decision. "Today I received a letter from the Supreme Court that on 24 November the prosecutor Rizwan Shammamedov filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal and requires stricter punishment. The hearing, chaired by Imran Hajibayov has been appointed to the Supreme Court on January 17," said the reporter.
At the same time, the journalist received a warning from the Sumgait Court Bailiffs Department that for default judgment on the forced labor he faces from 4 months to 1 year imprisonment. Hasanov explained that he does not have a paid work to transfer 20% of revenue to the account of the execution of punishment. In the management of employment, he was offered to work as a janitor with a salary of 125 manats. The journalist said he was ready to serve the penalty for non-execution of the sentence. "But obviously, they want to punish me more severely, and that is why the cassation appeal was filed."
