Ombudswoman Visited Parviz Hashimli
Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova and her staff visited the journalist Parviz Hashimli and other parties contained in the DHS detention facility.
In the press release on the visit it is said that the visit was planned. The purpose was to get acquainted with the conditions of detention and medical care of the prisoners.
"During the meeting one-on-one Hashimli did not complain about the conditions of his detention and nutrition. He disagreed with the charges against him and said that he was not allowed to meet his family and to speak on the phone. He also asked the Ombudswoman to transfer him to the Baku detention facility," the statement said.
Next the Ombudswoman said that Hashimli is making no hunger strike. During his detention, he has been checked by the doctors and there is no reason to worry, the Ombudswoman said.
Recall that the journalist's lawyer said that Hashimli began a hunger strike in protest against the unjustified arrest yesterday.
DHS arrested him on charges of smuggling weapons. However people close to the journalist claimed that the reason for the arrest was his refusal to publish compromising information about the Popular Front Party leader Ali Kerimli. -02D-
