One More Trial against Iranian Agents
The Baku Court of Grave Crimes started a preliminary hearing on the case of several people accused of collaboration with the Iranian secret service Sepah.
The trial is private, with 22 defendants. They are charged under Sections 274 (high treason), 228.2.1 (illegal possession of firearms), etc.
According to the investigation, one of the key roles was performed by a Nardaran resident, Niyazi Kerimov, recruited by a representative of the Revolutionary Guards, Akbar Pakrvesh, in Mashhad in 1999. Parvesh ordered Karimov to hire several Azerbaijanis in Baku to prepare terrorist attacks against citizens of the U.S., Israel and other Western countries.
From then until 2011, Karimov repeatedly traveled to Iran, where he got orders and money from representatives of Sepah. Based on the orders of the Iranian side, Karimov sent a link to the Iranian side of more than 15 people. This group visited Iran under the guise of visiting religious sites.
During the meeting in a safe house, representatives of Sepah prepared citizens of Azerbaijan to commit terrorist acts against representatives and citizens of Western countries and Israel. Later, the band of saboteurs went through special training in training camps near Tehran and Karaj.
The investigation established that the Iranians were planning attacks against the Israeli organization Jewish Agency, the company BP, American Fast Food Restaurant and foreign diplomatic missions. To this end, members of the group were shipped weapons and special equipment. Several rifles, pistols of various models, a sniper rifle, a grenade gun, ammunition, grenades, TNT blocks, and detonators were seized from those arrested.
The Ministry of National Security announced the arrest of this group on March 14. These were the names of the detainees: Niyazi Kerimov, Mubariz Aliyev, Elman Tagiyev, Nusrat Djalilov, Rahim Gasimov Mammadtagi Zakiev Bahram Gashimov, Ayaz Abbasov, Afghan Abbasov, Shahin Mammadov, Miralesker Agayev, Rovshan Zulfugarov, Hamidaga Alekperov, Seymour Gasimov, Taleh Rasulov, Jeyhun Habibov, Elchin Kerimov, Zahid Mammadov, etc. -06 -
