Opposition Activist Nasimi Gafarov Arrested in Dashkesan for 15 Days
The Chairman of the Dashkesan district organization of the Civil Solidarity Party (CSP) 23-year-old Nasimi Gafarov has been arrested for 15 days. He was found guilty of an administrative offense, "no subordination to the police." However, CSP believes the activist was arrested for distributing information in the media about the obstruction of the local residents’ attempt to meet with the Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova in Dashkesan last week. Turan was reported by CSP.
So, locals seeking a meeting with Suleymanova were gathered in one room of the Executive Power. But they waited for the meeting in vain, while Suleymanova was holding an event with local "activists" on the implementation of the National Program for Human Rights.
Gafarov supported the people and demanded a meeting with the Ombudswoman and gave the information about the deception of the citizens to the media.
On June 14 around midnight, the young man was taken to the police. He was accused of not subordinating the police. Gafarov allegedly tried to overtake the car of the deputy police chief, and did not obey his demands.
CSP issued a statement, in which it demanded "to stop the arbitrariness and free Nasimi Gafarov». -06D--
