OSCE organizes police training on prevention of domestic violence in Azerbaijan
The OSCE Office in Baku conducted a regional training course today on the prevention of domestic violence for police officers. The event was organized by the OSCE Office in close co-operation with the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.
Topics discussed included the role and duties of police officers in preventing and combating domestic violence under the national legislation; participants heard about the experiences of other countries in this field. Local experts and representatives from the Interior Ministry also addressed the legal and socio-cultural aspects of implementing the law.
“Domestic violence cannot be tackled by legal means alone; the role of police in the prevention and timely investigation of domestic violence is indispensable,” said Ambassador Koray Targay, Head of the OSCE Office in Baku.
This event is the fourth in a series of training sessions organized by the Office for district police officers in Baku, Sheki, Lankaran and Guba. The next training course will be held in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from 10 to 11 December.-0-
