Parents of those accused of treason held a rally in front of the presidential administration
Baku / 12.04.19 / Turan: On 12 April, the parents of service members accused of treason 12 held a protest action in front of the presidential administration.
They stated that the charges brought against their sons in court were not proven.
Some of the accused died during the investigation from torture.
"We want the President or the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to accept us. We want to get an answer why should our innocent children serve the 18-20 year-old prison sentence," said the mother of one of the military, who showed a photo with traces of violence on her son"s body.
She claims that her son was severely beaten during the investigation, and then placed in a hospital, but after a while, he was again arrested.
Another parent said his son was sentenced to 16 years in prison while he is innocent.
"My son was so beaten that his nervous system was disturbed.
I ask, I demand from the president to punish those who arrested our innocent children," said this parent.
Parents complained that on April 11, the Supreme Court rejected appeals against sentences against their children.
They stated that the military prosecutor had deceived them by saying that the Supreme Court would consider the case in open session.
However, the meeting was closed and within 30 minutes, the case against seven people was considered.
On May 7, 2017, the Prosecutor General"s Office, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a joint statement announcing the exposure of a group of military and civilians who were spying for the special services of Armenia.
In turn, human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev submitted a report about tortures of the accused in a special room in the military unit in Terter in the specified case. - 03B06--
