PFPA Activist Arrested, another Activist Warned
Baku / 12.08.17 / Turan: An activist of the Sumgait organization of the Popular Front Party Ruslan Gara has been arrested in administrative order for 20 days. Turan was informed about this by the PFPA.
The party does not yet have information on what kind of administrative offense the activist committed. However, the PFPA is convinced that he is being persecuted for political reasons.
Recall that Gara was abducted by men in civilian clothes near his house yesterday morning.
As the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli wrote in his profile on Facebook, Gara became the 41st party activist arrested administratively since September 2016. Another 20 party members were dismissed from their jobs. However, such a form of pressure will not stop the struggle of Azerbaijani youth for democracy, Kerimli wrote.
Yesterday, the head of the Democratic Youth Organization Ismail Islamoglu was also summoned to the police. They first detained his father in the city of Shirvan, demanding that the activist come to the police.
In the 27th police station of the Yasamal district the police talked to him for three hours and made claims to his status in Facebook in defense of political prisoners and demanded the he "should not touch this topic anymore." -06D-
