Prosecutor General Reports on Investigation of Attempt on Head of Ganja
Baku / 28.09.18 / Turan: A full circle of people involved in the terrorist act committed against the ex-head of the Ganja Executive Power has been established. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of the country Zakir Garalov in the conversation with journalists on Friday.
A total of 77 people were brought to justice and arrested and 11 more people were put on the wanted list. The organizers of the terrorist attack were identified, Garalov said.
Recall that on July 3, a resident of Ganja Yunis Safarov tried to shoot the head of the city Elmar Veliyev. The cause of the attack was the provoking rudeness of the Mayor and his constant insults against the city's residents.
Ten days later, the city's residents gathered for a rally in support of Safarov, but the police began to disperse them. During the clashes with the police, two police officers were killed.
The authorities accused pro-Iranian religious radicals of the events. Mass arrests began. In the course of the detention operations, five people were killed, charged with organizing riots and killing the policemen.
Later, the head of state fired the wounded Elmar Veliyev, but did not evaluate his actions, which led to such serious consequences. -02D-
