Results of journalistic competition: "How do the laws work ?"
On Friday, a ceremony of awarding the winners of journalism contest: "How do the laws work?", conducted by the Institute of Media Rights along with the American Bar Association, ABA CEELI, took place.
Diplomas and cash prizes were awarded to five journalists from print media and on-line media. A total of 12 papers were presented. This is the third media competition, held by ABA CEELİ and IPM on legal topics.
Member of the jury, judge Zeynal Mammadli noted with regret that many of these articles do not meet the standards. Journalist investigations should reflected opinions of ordinary people also.
Journalist Shahvaled Chobanoglu proposed to change the shape of journalistic competitions in order to raise the interest of journalists to them.
At the same time, it was emphasized that such contests promote research journalism.-16D06-

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. According to the Azerbaijan Border Service, this prevented an attempt to smuggle into Azerbaijan 11.3 kg of marijuana, 5.1 kg of opium, and 1,990 methadone M-40 pills from Iran.
