Start is given to 2012/13 academic year
New academic year will begin on Saturday on September 15 in the schools and universities of Azerbaijan; in 2004 the day was declared by the President, the Day of Knowledge.
The first bell will sound in 4505 schools, and 1.3 million students will start sit at desks.
There will be more than 130,000 first-graders, of which a quarter is in Baku.
Overall, the number of students has grown in the country by five thousand - it is a stable annual rate in recent years.
Doors of 162 secondary schools will open for schools children, and 103 schools will take students renovated.
This year, the university received 31,994 applicants, including about seven thousand students from 50 countries, the number of which is growing from year to year.
Among the innovations in the 2012/13 academic year, the head of State Student Admission Commission (SSAC), Maleyka Abbaszadeh, called at the press conference on Friday, the postponement of repeated examinations for 9 grade students from autumn to spring. She explained this by the need to create conditions for admission to specialized secondary schools students immediately after the end of the school year.
Abasszade also said that this year of 117,363 graduates of nine- grade, 81% showed a result allowing to continue their education in schools. Ironically, most of the poor results were noted in the examinations on the native language.
Approval of new rules for final examinations in the schools, that have been developed by the SSAC, are expected in October, but she did not say what is their essence.-0-
