Sheikh and Heads of Religious Denominations of Azerbaijan Visited Armenian Captive
At the end of last week, the head of the Muslims of Azerbaijan Sheikh Pashazadeh, together with the leaders of the main religious confessions of Azerbaijan visited Hagop Indzhagulyan, an Armenian soldier held in captivity in Azerbaijan.
As reported in the CMD, in addition to the Sheikh, the Armenian prisoner of war was visited by the head of the Baku diocese of the Orthodox Church, Archbishop Alexander, the leader of the Mountain Jews, Melek Evdayev and the head of the Catholic community, Vladimir Fekete.
According to the same source, the Sheikh went to the Armenian prisoner of war at the request of the Armenian Catholicos Gareghin II.
The purpose of the visit was acquaintance with the conditions of the prisoner of war. At the meeting, the Armenian soldier confirmed that he is treated well and he moved to the Azerbaijani side voluntarily. He also said that he wants to be sent to a third country.
Recall that Hagop Indzhagulyan crossed the front line near Aghdam and surrendered to the Azerbaijani side in August 2013. As the reason for the transition, he called the mistreatment of him by the officers.
Note that this is the first time that the spiritual leader of Azerbaijan visits Armenian prisoners of war.
The report by CMD explained the Sheikh's visit with the fact that the Sheikh had acted in accordance with the bilateral agreement concluded earlier with the Armenian Catholicos.
However, until now, the Sheikh turned a deaf ear to calls of believers to defend their own rights. Thus, the Sheikh did not respond to calls for help of the believers arrested, the opposition and civil society activists who have suffered torture in custody and were detained on trumped-up charges.
On the day when the Sheikh visited the Armenian soldier, a court in Baku sentenced to two years of imprisonment a young theologian Taleh Baghirzadeh on charges of drug possession. However, the sheikh did not have time and desire to express his attitude to this. -03B-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
