Six PFPA Activists Arrested in Administrative Order
Baku / 08.10.17 / Turan: Six activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) detained on the eve of the opposition rally on October 7 were sentenced to administrative arrests. PFPA believes these arrests are politically motivated.
As reported by Turan from PFPA, the oppositionists are assigned administrative arrests from 10 to 30 days. Thus, Jabbar Savalanli, a member of the PFPA Sumgait city organization, received 10 days of arrest, Ramid Nagiyev, Yalchin Abdullayev, Ruslan Nasirli and Maharram Rzayev received 25 days, and Fizuli Huseynov received 30 days. What exactly the activists were found guilty of is still unknown.
Decisions on the arrests will be appealed. The rights of the arrested will be defended by the lawyer Asabali Mustafayev.
The rally on October 7 under the slogan No Corruption, Freedom for Political Prisoners! was organized by the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF). -06D--
