The most titled chess player of the country complains of the lack of a sponsor

Baku / 27.08.18 / Turan: The most titled Azerbaijani chess player Shahriyar Mammadyarov complained about the lack of a sponsor. On his Facebook page, he wrote that he himself decides to finance his trips to international tournaments and participates in them to earn money.

"I now woke up with fatigue, local time in St. Louis - 1:47 Today I had a difficult game with Carlsen, which lasted more than five hours. In the opening, I had a big advantage, then the situation got worse, and the opponent tried to win for five hours. And now I realized that I will no longer play in a row in tournaments for 40-45 days. You need to play less to have the strength. Playing so much in a row is just a shame.

Today the journalist asked me what makes me play so much. I was too shy to answer that money. I could not say that such a professional chess player as I do not have a sponsor, that I'm going to all tournaments at my own expense. All rivals who play in St. Louis have sponsors.

But we need to prepare for the next game. It's a pity, but I'm fed up with chess. I'm tired! Tomorrow there will be a play again. Sometimes I think: how many athletes in Azerbaijan are stronger than me, that I did not have even one sponsor," the chess player wrote.

At the tournament in St. Louis Mammadyarov before the last round shares 2-4 places and retains the chances of winning.

A 33-year-old Mammadyarov in the rating of FIDE ranks second in the world.

Mammadyarov is the only two-time world champion among boys. In addition, he became the winner of a number of prestigious international tournaments.

Representatives of the Azerbaijani Chess Federation in local media said that Mammadyarov never goes to tournaments at his own expense and although he does not have a "private sponsor", his main sponsor is the "state".

The National Chess Federation of Azerbaijan is headed by the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank Elman Rustamov. -06D--
