The preparation of terrorist acts in the "Eurovision" is a fiction of the former leadership of the National Security Ministry
Consideration of the cassation appeal of five sentenced to long terms of imprisonment scheduled for April 14, the Supreme Court did not take place, and was postponed to May 5. The talk is about the people who were arrested on the eve of "Eurovision" contest in May 2012 in Baku. The Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan then accused them of plotting the assassination of President Ilham Aliyev and the organization of terrorist attacks during the competition. In total 29 people were arrested. However, according to the head of the Center for Monitoring Political Prisoners, Elshan Hasanov, relatives of convicts claimed that they were arrested on trumped up charges, and this high-profile case was fabricated by the order of the former head of Ministry of National Security Eldar Mahmudov.
"The investigators deceived parents of the arrested, promising soon early release of their children, so they did not complain. And those who complained were threatened," Hasanov said.
According to him, only five convicted filed an appeal, and then appeal: Samir Saniev (convicted for life), Amir Muradov (for life), Salimkhanov Hasan (14 years), Agasadyg Aliyev (15 years), and Nariman Abbasoglu (10 years.)
Total in this case three men were convicted for life. "Life sentence for an uncommitted crime is a flagrant violation of the law," Hasanov said. According to him, parents of the convicted claim of torture. Hasanov intends to inform about the case of local and international democratic society.-06B-
