The prosecutor requested 15 years in prison for Rasim Mammadov
Baku/21.11.22/Turan: On November 21, the Baku Serious Crimes Court completed the trial of the former head of the Baku steel company, Rasim Mammadov. Public prosecutor Orhan Samedov proposed to find Mammadov guilty on all charges and sentence Mammadov to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier, Mammadov denied the accusations against him of committing economic crimes under Article 179.4 (misappropriation and embezzlement on an especially large scale), 193.3.2 (false entrepreneurship, with receipt of income on an especially large scale), 308.2 (abuse of official powers that entailed grave consequences) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
At the next meeting on November 28, the final speeches of the lawyers and the accused will take place.
According to the State Security Service, which detained Rasim Mammadov on February 3 this year, he embezzled over 13 million manats in several years, plundered products worth 42 million manats.
Thus, serious damage was caused to the financial position of the enterprise. In addition, Mammadov fraudulently embezzled funds from individuals. As a result of the investigation, the total amount of damage caused by Mammadovs amounted to 185 million manats. ---016B---
