The UN Office does not receive the mother of the arrested journalist
The second attempt of Zahira Shiralieva, mother of the editor of the portal 7gun.az Javid Shiraliyev, sentenced to five years, to inform the local UN representative about the fate of her son also was not successful. "Today at the dealership told me that they do not deal with political issues and did not receive me," said Shiraliyev. The mother of accused made a first attempt to obtain a meeting in the UN Office was made at the end of last year. However, she managed to get an audience in the United States and EU diplomatic missions. Today Shiraliyev has written a request on the meeting at the embassies of Sweden, Germany, Norway and France, which promised to receive her. Zahira Shiraliyeva decided to revert to the diplomatic corps after yesterday's decision of the Ganja Court of Appeal, which has left her son in prison. So, Ganja Court of Appeal after multiple transfers on January 18 rejected the complaint of Javid Shiraliyev on the decision of the Serious Crimes Court of Ganja which condemned journalist on charges of extortion by threats.
At the end of 2012 Javid Shiraliyev was persecuted after being handing the media the information about the violation of the rights of poet Bakhtiyar Hidayat on the border "Red Bridge". The defense did not agree with the decision of the court of appeal and intends to file an appeal to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. Institute for Peace and Democracy, the Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" and the center for Monitoring Political Prisoners included Shiraliyev in the list of 160 political prisoners in Azerbaijan.—0--
