Trial in the case of the journalist H.Ismaylova will be on the Day of National Press
The preparatory trial in the case of journalist Khadija Ismayilova is scheduled for July 22 by the judges, chaired by Ramella Allahverdiyeva.
July 22 is marked in Azerbaijan as the National Press Day.
Ismayilova was arrested on December 5, 2014 on the basis of complaints of Tural Mustafayev. She was charged under the Article 125 (inciting to suicide.) Despite the fact that later Mustafayev said that he testified against the journalist under pressure, the lawsuit against Ismayilova under this article has not been terminated. In February, Ismayilova was charged also under the Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement on a large scale), 192.2.2 (illegal entrepreneurship), 213.1 (tax evasion), and 308.2 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code.
Ismayilova said the charges are politically motivated. International human rights organization Amnesty International recognized Ismayilova "prisoner of conscience". Many international organizations and official Washington demand her arrest. -16B06-
