"Youth Club" holds "presidential elections"
Public Association "Youth Club" implements the project "Public activities and leadership training." On completion of the first session, on April 4, at the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety ( IRFS ) the ceremony of awarding certificates of training participants took place.
According to Zaur Akbar the head of the NGO "Youth Club", 154 people expressed the will to participate in the project, of which 60 were selected and divided into six groups. Each group was named after the leaders of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR.)
Then the groups conducted a simulation in a hypothetical election state with the nomination of candidates, presentation platforms, organization of the campaign. By secret ballot "president" was elected Tural Huseynli. Some young people decided to establish a public association on the basis of participation in the training. An announcement was made for the participation in the second session, and 253 gave applications. The project is financed by the European Fund Democracy.—06D--
