Youth Forum on Internet Freedom in Kazakhstan
On 10 December in Astana, Kazakhstan, was held final International Youth Legal Forum "The limits of freedom of expression and dissemination of information in Intrenet", worthy won by the student team from Ukraine. Team of Kazakhstan ranked the second.
The forum was dedicated to the International day of protection of human rights covered four selective stages, the first of which started on 20 November.
Both teams competed in the final part in role-playing format for restricting freedom of Internet (Kazakhstan) and “against” restrictions (Ukraine.) Although Kazakhstan's team justified their positions brilliantly, it was doomed to failure, because the younger audiences among the members of the jury could not find solidarity.
Also in the course of the final part members of the jury made reports, answered the questions of the audience, in particular relating to legislative restrictions on freedom Internet, self-regulation, protection private information, openness of governments.
Awards were granted, and the teams and students ask the most interesting questions to the experts. The jury consisted of experts from Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, whom represented Mehman Aliyev, Director of Turan news agency. The Forum was held under the auspices of the Kazakhstan State Law University, the OSCE, and the Soros Foundation.-0-
