Fantasy Festival to Be Held in Baku
Baku / 20.09.18 / Turan: In order to preserve the cultural heritage in Baku, the Fantasy festival will be held on November 1-10. The event is organized by the representative office of the European Union in Baku.
Speaking at a press conference on September 19, the head of the representative office Kęstutis Jankauskas said the embassies of the EU member states - Germany, France, Greece, Poland, Croatia, the Netherlands, and Hungary - will be partners at the festival.
Within the framework of the festival, concerts, excursions, seminars, film demonstrations and competitions will be organized.
The name of the festival is taken from the Fantasy bathhouse in Baku, which was built in the late XIX century and is a model of architecture that unites the Eastern and Western styles.
K.Yankauskas also said that in Europe, 2018 was declared a year of cultural heritage and therefore it is no coincidence that such a festival will be held in Baku.
"The event is aimed at increasing the population's interest in preserving the cultural heritage. Azerbaijan is a partner country of the EU. There are beautiful monuments of cultural heritage. Every old city represents the face of a new city and all this should be preserved."
French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchet, in her turn, stated that her country pays special attention to the cultural heritage and therefore young French architects will arrive in Baku within the framework of the festival.
Ambassador Onno Kravers of the Netherlands noted that Baku is renewed every year, but in the capital of Azerbaijan there are a large number of cultural heritage monuments, such as Icheri Sheher (Old City), and they are focused on their preservation. In particular, the embassy will organize a photo exhibition of black and white photographs, which will reflect the past and future of Baku. -71D-
