Why did Taleh Bagirzade go on a hunger strike?
Baku/29.11.22/Turan: The imprisoned chairman of the Muslim Unity Movement, Taleh Bagirzade, went on a hunger strike demanding an end to "an end to oppression!"
Bagirzade's wife, Leyla Ismailzade, told “Voice of America” that he went on a hunger strike to protest the insults he was subjected to at Penitentiary No. 12, to which he was transferred from the “closed” high-security prison, designed for especially dangerous criminals, sentenced to life or long terms of imprisonment, as well as prisoners transferred here from jails for repeated violations of the regime - ed.) in the village of Gobustan. Leyla Ismailzade, referring to what her husband said during a telephone conversation, announced plans to return him to the Gobustan prison.
Abulfaz Bunyadov, the head of the press service of the Union of Muslims, talks about the misadventures of Taleh Bagirzade in the "Difficult Question" program. According to him, the reason for sending Taleh Bagirzade to the Gobustan prison was a conflict with Babek Iskenderov, the deputy head of Penitentiary No. 12.
“Taleh sent me a voice message in which he said that as soon as he was brought to Penitentiary No. 12, Babek Iskenderov immediately promised to return him to Gobustan prison. “You will go there anyway. There is your place, you will certainly find yourself there, Iskenderov promised Taleh. Taleh understood that he was provoking him. According to Taleh, Iskenderov, addressing him, used profanity to provoke him,” Bunyadov said.
Bunyadov also noted that the members of the "Muslim Unity" do not believe a single word of the representatives of the penitentiary service, who deny Taleh Bagirzade's hunger strike, as well as allegations of physical and moral pressure exerted on him.
“The staff of the penitentiary service often lies. And we know Taleh Bagirzade well. Also, we know what problems the penitentiary service of Azerbaijan creates. Therefore, we believe that what Taleh Bagirzade said is true!” the head of the press service said.
