70 bcm of gas already extracted from Shah Deniz field
Since beginning of the Shah Deniz field development in November 2006 till April 1, 2016 70 bcm of natural gas has been already extracted, said Khoshbakht Yusifzada, SOCAR Senior Vice President, at the International Conference “Caspian Sea and Central Asia – Trade, Logistics, Oil Refining and Petrochemistry” in Baku.
“During this period 18 million tons of condensate has been also extracted from the field. 30 mcm of natural gas and 7,000 tons of condensate a day is extracted on the field,” Yusifzada said.
He said 2.5 mcm of gas a day extracted on the Shah Deniz Phase 1 field is exported to Georgia and 18.2 mcm to Turkey.
“Since beginning of gas export from the Shah Deniz field till April 1, 2016 39 bcm of Azerbaijani gas was exported to Turkey and 5 bcm to Georgia,” Yusifzada said.
One could draw conclusion from SOCAR’s Vice President’s words that 26 bcm of gas was handed over to Azerbaijan.
* The contract for the Shah Deniz field development was signed on June 4, 1996 in Baku. The field was discovered in June 1999. The Shah Deniz project partners include BP (operator with 28.8%), TPAO (19%), SOCAR (16.7%), Petronas (15.5%), LUKoil (10%) and NICO (10%). –0--
