All Georgia supplied with Azerbaijani gas, but SOCAR is not monopolist
Georgian Ministry of Energy does not consider SOCAR as monopolist at the Georgian gas market, Radio Commersant reported yesterday citing Mariyam Valiashvili, Deputy Energy Minister of Georgia.
Radio station reported that the issue if SOCAR Energy Georgia is monopolist at the Georgian gas market has become urgent after SOCAR's purchasing Itera Georgia,
She said that nothing will change at the market after acquisition of Itera Georgia by SOCAR.
Valiashvili said that before the deal Itera Georgia was supplied with SOCAR's gas and the whole Georgia was supplied with Azerbaijani company's gas.
She said the talks about new monopolies are inappropriate.
She said the tariff policy in the country is controlled by a special commission and in case of monopoly the company cannot avoid obligations.
SOCAR Georgia Gas company supplies almost all Georgia's regions with natural gas. However, gas distribution of Georgia's capital is not in its competence.-0-
