Azerbaijani drivers integrated into the Green Card
Drivers of Azerbaijan will join the family of Green Card - international liability insurance car owners to third parties.
To recognize the rights of local motorists member countries of the Agreement requires several steps - experts-insurers. Azerbaijani Parliament should adopt (expected in the autumn session) amendments to the law "On mandatory types of insurance," the Bureau of compulsory insurance (ISB) to amend the Charter to the Council and provide "green card" necessary documents, a letter of guarantee for 5 million euro contract reinsurance and information on how that legislation meets the requirements of the Council Green Card.
"If the ISB to the end of the year or until the end of January 2015 will be able to submit documents to the address, the Green Card system will start operating in Azerbaijan since January 1, 2016," the Director of the Bureau of Compulsory Insurance, Elkhan Guliyev expects.
The agreement on the Green Card entered into force on 1 January 1953. According to it, CTP insurance policy issued in any Member State on the agreement is valid on the territory of another country that is a member of the agreement.
The system of "green card" includes 46 countries from Europe, Asia and Africa. In 2006, the headquarters of the Council Office was relocated from London to Brussels.
The local Bureau of Compulsory Insurance was established in the framework of implementation of the law "On mandatory types of insurance." It includes 15 of the 28 insurance companies operating in Azerbaijan. - 17D-
