Azerbaijani gas export via SCP again goes down
During 6 months, 2012 2.2 billion cub.m. of natural gas was exported via the South Caucasian Pipeline (SCP). Export dropped by 200 million against the same period in 2011, reads the report of the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee.
In January export was 434.7 million cub.m., in February - 427.9 million cub.m., in March - 437.4 million cub.m., in April - 300 million cub.m., in May - 200 million cub.m. and in June - 400 million cub.m.
In 2011 4.5 billion cub.m. of natural gas was exported via the South Caucasian Pipeline (SCP), down 400 million cub.m. against 2010. Reduction of export volume is connected with the fact that the main gas consumer within Stage-1 project of the Shah-Deniz field development - Turkey - reduces gas import. From Azerbaijan gas is delivered to the east of Turkey, which is economically undeveloped region of the country. It is not advantageous for Turkey to transport Azerbaijani gas to the western regions, where Russian gas is delivered from two sources (through Bulgaria and via Blue Stream along the Black Sea bottom) through the entire country.
* SCP pipeline was put into operation at the end of 2006 Natural gas produced on the offshore gas condensate Shah-Deniz field is exported via this pipeline. Gas is delivered to Georgia and Turkey. In addition, DBC Co company, which is in charge of transportation of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline for the pump stations, receives gas via SCP.-0--
