EU Twinning Project Implemented with Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan Completed
The twinning project "Support to the Ministry of Taxes in the field of human resources development" implemented within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy has been completed.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the project, Deputy Tax Minister Sahib Alakbarov noted that the development of potential of employees of state bodies is essential.
"The program of development strategy of Azerbaijan in 2020 also indicates the necessary transformation of the traditional economy to the knowledge economy," he said.
He noted that one of the tasks assigned to the Ministry is development of e-audit, which makes professional development necessary.
Alakbarov said that within 27 months of the project the experience of the Tax Administrations of Spain and France was studied, including human resource management, methods of information gathering and risk analysis.
A member of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan Jerome Williams said that in the post-Soviet Azerbaijan is a leader in the number of implementation of twinning projects.
According to him, for 10 years the EU implemented 47 twinning projects with Azerbaijan, which is more than in Moldova and Georgia.
"These projects are a good way of approaching the European practice," he said.
The First Adviser to the Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Fabienne Drout Lozinski, in turn, said they did everything in their power to implement the project and are ready to participate in the implementation of new twinning projects together with Spain again next year.
Chargé d'Affaires of Spain to Azerbaijan Gonzalo Gomez de Liano said that during the project they shared their experiences in the fight against tax evasion and the creation of an information base.
"These are all very difficult questions and should have relevant experience. The twinning project was directed specifically for gaining such an experience," he said. -----71D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN.
