Expert on Road Map and Trade Logistics - Nothing New
There is nothing new in the road map on the logistics and trade, the economist Akram Hasanov said.
In his profile on Facebook, Hasanov noted the document summarizes all the goals that have been stated in recent years.
“In general, it says on the geographical situation of Azerbaijan, on the use of transport hubs and corridors,” he said.
The expert drew attention to the fact that the map indicates the importance of increasing the volume of transit trade, organization of a free trade area, the creation of logistics and trade centers, increasing freight traffic on the East-West corridor and North-South cooperation, the creation of a port complex in Alat, completion of railway projects Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and Astara-Astara.
Hasanov stressed that the document indicates the need to establish working groups and the definition of goals, improving the regulatory framework, cooperation with foreign experts, the development of investment plans.
According to him, in fact in Azerbaijani practice, this means the development of additional documents by copying foreign laws, numerous trips of our officials, etc.
“All this will be spent 3.16 billion manat,” he concluded. -71D-

Azerbaijan appears poised for a notable economic shift in 2024, according to projections from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Inflation, a persistent thorn in the side of policymakers in 2023, is set to cool significantly, with the average annual rate expected to fall to 3.5%, compared with a high of 8.8% last year. Yet, as inflation moderates, the country's current account surplus—an indicator of its external economic strength—is forecast to narrow slightly, dropping to 8.5% of GDP from 9.9%.
