Gasprom to install most powerful compressor station in the world on south stream pipeline
On December 6, 2013 Gasprom company installed the first gas pumping aggregate on the compressor station Russkaya, Krasnodar, as a part of construction of South Stream gas pipeline.
“The gas pumping aggregate is a heart of any compressor station. 14 such aggregates with total capacity of 448 MWt will be installed on the compressor station Russkaya. It will become the most powerful compressor station in the world. The assembly is carried out according to the schedule,” said Mikhail Levchenko, General Director Gasprom Invest.
The station will transport gas via the South Stream pipeline, reported http://itar-tass.com.
South Stream is a global infrastructure project of Gasprom, which envisages construction of the gas pipeline with the capacity of 63 billion cub.m. through the Black Sea to South and Central Europe to diversify the routes of natural gas export and avoiding transit risks.
The onshore section of the gas pipeline will pass through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia. The final destination of the gas pipeline is the gas measuring station Tarvizio in Italy. From the main route it is planned to build branches to Croatia and Serbian Republic (the state formation on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The 51-km-long branch to Croatia and 109-km-long branch to Serbian Republic will be built from the main gas pipeline.—0—
